Jutta Urpilainen

Jutta Urpilainen (* August 4, 1975 in Lapua, Southern Ostrobothnia ) is a Finnish politician. She is since 2008 chairman of the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) and currently Minister of Finance of Finland.

Urpilainen studied at the University of Jyväskylä and education in Vienna and with completion in 2002. After her studies she worked as a teacher.

Deputies activity

In 2003 she was elected for the constituency of Vaasa as MPs in the Finnish Parliament. Previously, she was a member of the City Council of Kokkola since 2001. Urpilainen counts as the successor of Eero Heinäluoma since 2008 Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Finland and prevailed in the election for the presidency against Erkki Tuomioja. According to the Finnish parliamentary elections in April 2011 Urpilainen was Finance Minister as a junior partner of the conservative Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen.
