Kameničky

Kameničky ( German Kamenitschek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-east of Hlinsko on the northern edge of the Saarer mountains and belongs to Okres Chrudim. At the beginning of the 20th century the village was a favorite target of Czech painter and wore from 1904 popularly nicknamed Slavíčkovy Kameničky.

Geography

The village is located at the headwaters of the Chrudimka that springs from two sources in the hill U Oběšeného at Filipov and north of Ovčín. In the northwest, the 697 m high Pešava rises, east of Vojtěchův Kopec ( 673 m), which is also known as Volák, to the south lies the pond Krejcar and fishpond in the southwest of Kameničky. Through the village leads the state road 343 between Hlinsko and Svratka.

Neighboring towns are Ovčín and Dědová in the north, Filipov in the northeast, and Paseky Chlumětín in the east, Lany, Lhoty and Vortová in the southwest and Hamry and Jenikov in the West.

History

The first mention of the parish was in 1350, according to the local chronicle it is to be created in 1250. 1392 Osada Kameniczka was named as owned by Smil Flaška z Pardubice on Richburg. In the 15th century the village was known as Reychlowa Kamenicze.

The inhabitants of the place on a connecting road from Bohemia to Moravia lived by farming, but left the stony ground and the long winter often come distress, so that for the area popularly known as the term Bohemian Siberia spread. 1763 the dilapidated wooden Gothic church was demolished and replaced by a new building, which was completed two years later. At this time, many of the inhabitants made by linen weaving, jacquard weaving and later the Haarnetzflechterei extra income.

After the snow break from October 1930 was between Lany and Herálec a narrow-gauge forest railway, which was discontinued after four years of operation and elimination of storm damage. In 1970 Kameničky was part of the nature reserve Zdarske Hills. The incorporation of Filipov was made in 1985.

The municipality consists of the villages Kameničky Filipov ( Philippsdorf ) and Kameničky ( Kamenitschek ) and the settlement Ovčín and the hamlet of Lany.

Personalities

  • The writer Karel Václav Rais lived since 1877 in the area and described in his 1896 published novel Západ life in the village. At the local cemetery is the burial site of the main character of the novel, pastor Pardus.
  • Inspired by the novel of the painter Antonín Slavíček visited the site and investigated on the basis of his descriptions and also found Otakar Nejedlý, Herbert Masaryk, Rudolf Kremlička, Gustav Macoun, Josef Hašek in the village and its surroundings motifs for her pictures
