Kaplna

Kaplna (until 1996 slovak " Kaplna "; chapels German, Hungarian Erzsébetkápolna - to 1907 Kápolna ) is a municipality in Okres Senec within the Bratislavský kraj in Slovakia.

Geography

The place is located in the Danubian Lowland on Bach Vištucký creek, 11 km northeast of the city Senec and 15 km southwest of Trnava located. It lies on the main road 61 and forms with neighboring communities Báhoň and Igram quasi one unit.

History

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1244 and grew up around the existing Romanesque church of St. Elisabeth. The name for the municipality are derived from the Latin Capulna. Since the 16th century it belonged to the estate of Castle Red Stone. 1530, the town was destroyed by an Ottoman attack and inhabited since the late 16th century by Croatian settlers.

Until 1918, the place was in the county Pressburg in the Kingdom of Hungary, after which he joined the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1974-1990 the municipality with neighboring Igram was a part of Báhoň.
