Kasepää Parish

Kasepää ( German: Kasepäh ) is an Estonian rural municipality in the county Jõgeva with an area of 40.87 km ².

The rural municipality has 1296 inhabitants ( 2010). In addition to the main town of Raja (487 inhabitants) it includes the villages Kaasiku, Kasepää, Kükita, Metsaküla, Nõmme, Omedu and Tiheda.

The villages are heavily influenced by Russian immigrants of the 18th and 19th century who had to flee as the Old Believers in front of the local religious persecution. They lived mostly from fishing on Lake Peipus. Worth seeing are the Orthodox wooden churches of the villages from the 19th century.
