Kati Winkler

Kati Winkler, married. Schneider ( born January 16, 1974 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a former German figure skater, which was launched in ice dancing.

Career

Kati Winkler is the daughter of Bernd Winkler and Christina Schmerbach. She has a sister. In Karl- Marx-Stadt she came with six years to figure skating, was first single runner and was trained by Peter Meyer. Even as individual runners she went in 1985 to Berlin, where he was coached by Jürgen Bertko.

After René Lohse had two years given up figure skating for other sports, Kati Winkler asked him if he wanted to be her Eistanzpartner. Lohse agreed and so both trained from 1987 to Knut Schubert, who actually specialized on pair skater. After the retirement of the best Eistanzpaares from the GDR, Anne Rose Baier and Eberhard Rüger, the figure skating ice dance discipline had disappeared in the GDR from 1971 to 1989 out of the picture. During this period, no national championships were held in ice dancing. Kati Winkler and René Lohse has been made in re-establishing the discipline in 1990, the last Eistanzmeister the GDR.

1993 debuted Winkler and Lohse at European Championships and 1995 World Championships. 1996, they were all-German champions for the first time. Kati Winkler is a professional office clerk. Since autumn 2007 she is the mother of a daughter. In December 2008, she married the dentist Oliver Schneider.
