Keilor East, Victoria

Keilor East is a suburb of the Australian city of Melbourne. It is located about 16 km northwest of the city center. It is bounded on the west by the Maribyrnong River, the north by the Calder Freeway, on the east by the Hoffmans Road and on the south by the Buckley Street, Steele Creek and Rose Hill Road.

Shops are the Milleara Shopping Centre, the Centreway Shopping Centre and Dinah Parade shopping strip. In the shopping center Centreway there was the first store of JB Hi- Fi and now Australia's largest electronics retail chain.

History

The name of the district derives from its location east of the district from Keilor; this will in turn descended from a cattle or a stream in Scotland. The post office of Keilor East, opened in 1947. Until 1994 the district was part of the LGA City of Keilor. Today, the eastern part belongs to the City of Moonee Valley, the western to the City of Brimbank.
