Brimbank is located 10 to 20 km to the west of the city center of Melbourne and includes 25 neighborhoods: Albanvale, Albion, Ardeer, Cairnlea, Calder Park, Deer Park, Delahey, Derrimut, Kealba, Keilor, Keilor Downs, Keilor Lodge, Keilor North, Keilor Park, Kings Park, St Albans, Sunshine, Sunshine North, Sunshine West, Sydenham, Taylors Lakes and parts of Brooklyn, Hillside, Keilor East and Tullamarine. The seat of the City Council is located in the southeast of the Sunshine LGA.

40 % of the residents of Brimbank have moved from abroad. In the city area is one of the largest industrial areas of Melbourne, the chemical industry has a strong presence here. Important institutions are the Sunshine Hospital and the Faculty of St Albans Victoria University of Technology.
