Gannawarra lies on the northern border of Victoria about 280 kilometers northwest of the capital, Melbourne and includes the following towns a: Benjeroop, Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook, Lalbert, Murrabit, Leitchville, Macorna and Quambatook. The seat of the City Council is located in Kerang in the center of the LGA, where alone over 10,000 inhabitants.
Gannawarra is an agricultural and forestry embossed Shire in the region around Loddon River and Murray River.
