Shire of Mitchell

Mitchell is located in the heart of downtown Victoria and is bordered to the south by the capital Melbourne. The area includes the following villages: Heathcote Junction, Tooborac, Puckapunyal, Seymour, Tallarook, Broadford, Kilmore, Clonbinane, Pyalong, Wandong, Wallan and Beveridge. The seat of the City Council is located in Broadford in the center of the LGA, which has about 3,500 inhabitants.

The Shire is located on the Hume Highway, the main link between the major cities Melbourne and Sydney. It benefited from the capital and nearby and is one of the fastest growing rural areas in Victoria.

Kilmore, located about 60 km north of the center of Melbourne, to be the oldest inland settlement of Victoria: It was founded in 1837 and mainly populated by Irish immigrants and has numerous historical buildings dating from the 19th century.

In Puckapunyal in Seymour is also home to a large military base of the Australian land forces.

Management
