Shire of Baw Baw

Baw Baw is located in the eastern half of Victoria and on the west by the capital Melbourne. The area includes the following villages: Longwarry, Drouin, Warragul, Darnum, Yarragon, Trafalgar, Neerim South, Noojee, Thorpdale, Rawson and Erica. The seat of the City Council is located in Warragul in the southwest of the LGA with about 11,500 inhabitants.

Named the Shire after the 1564 m high Mount Baw Baw, where even the smallest of ski resorts is Victoria. The foothills of the Great Dividing Range dominate the north of the region, while the hilly and densely populated south is attributable to the largely agricultural Gippsland. One of the attractions of the Shires is the historic gold mining town of Walhalla with one of the richest gold mines in the gold rush era, the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine.

Management

The Baw Baw Shire Council has nine members, who are elected by the residents of the nine Wards. These nine districts are Bloomfield, Drouin, Lardner, Longwarry, Mount Worth, Tarago, Thomson, Warragul Warragul East and West. From the circle of Councillor also the Mayor ( Mayor ) of the Council recruited.
