Knockando, Moray

Knockando (Gaelic: Cnoc Cheannachd ) is a small village in the Scottish unitary authority Moray. It lies on the banks of the Spey approximately 7 km west of Charlestown of Aberlour and 18 km south of Elgin.

In the churchyard of the church built in 1759 by Knockando are three weathered Pictish stones to be found.

Knockando is set amidst the significant Whisky Speyside. With Knockando, Cardhu Tamdhu and there are three whiskey distilleries in Knockando. The Knockando distillery was the first whiskey distillery in Scotland, the installed electric light.

The Great North of Scotland Railway operated a railway line between Boat of Garten and Craigellachie, which operated the station of Knockando. The line was abandoned in 1965. The train station of Knockando served for a time as the Tamdhu distillery visitor center.
