Ködnitz, a former official of the Prussian Principality of Bayreuth since 1792, fell in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came to Bavaria in 1810. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the municipality Ködnitz, which was extended on 1 April 1971 by the local government reform by the then independent municipality Kauerndorf.
