Kōichi Yamadera

Koichi Yamadera (Japanese山寺 宏 一, Yamadera Koichi; born June 17, 1961 in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan), nicknamed Yama- chan (山 ちゃん) and Bazooka Yamadera, is a Japanese voice actor ( seiyū jap ) and actor, narrator and entertainers.

Life and career

Yamadera holds a degree in economics in the Tohoku Gakuin University, a private university in Aoba -ku, Sendai. Before he made a name for himself as an actor and voice actor, he was manager of the tagajo Senior High School basketball team. The radio listeners he was a concept as Bazooka Yamadera. He gained further recognition for his roles in the anime movies Ninja Scroll (as Jubei Kibagami ), Cowboy Bebop (as Spike Spiegel ), Ghost in the Shell (as Togusa ), Neon Genesis Evangelion (as Kaji Ryoji ) Anpanman (as Cheese ) and Ranma ½ (as Ryoga Hibiki ). He also spoke different minor roles in the Pokémon movies. He was the Japanese voice actor of Sheriff Woody in the movie Toy Story. Because of his great vocal range, he was also repeated as the man who can conjure up seven votes out of a hat ( " Voice of Seven colors has " ) referred. He often plays characters who are cool, heroic but also comedic. When his colleague Kei Tomiyama died in 1995, he took over a large part of its ongoing roles, including that of Donald Duck, Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Genie in Aladdin, Mushu in Mulan, Stitch in Lilo & Stitch and Sebastian in The Little Mermaid.

In the Japanese language versions of their films Yamadera acts as the voice of Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphy. In addition, he has also been Stephen Chow, Robin Williams, Brad Pitt, and Jean -Claude Van Damme lent his voice. He also appeared at the side of the dancer Hisako Ōshima in the Japanese version of Let 's Dance.

Marriages

In 1993 he married the voice actress Mika Kanai, of which he was divorced again in 2006. Since 17 June 2012, he is married to voice actress Rie Tanaka.

Award

For his work as a voice actor in anime films, he was honored at the third award of the " Seiyu Awards" with the " Kei Tomiyama Award".
