König Ludwig Lauf

Founded in 1968, King Ludwig Run is the largest public cross-country skiing in Germany and is discharged at Oberammergau and Ettal. It is part of Worldloppet series, the FIS Marathon Cup, the DSV cross-country skiing race series and the series of Ski Classics.

The launch will take place on the first weekend in February in Ettal instead of, target is the Oberammergau sports center. There are stretches 50 km and 23 km respectively in the classic (Sunday) and skating technique (Saturday) offered as well as the so-called "Mini Kini " over 5 km for children between 6 and 14. In addition, the World Cup will take place on 23 and 50 km cross-country skiing for doctors and pharmacists. The traditional route runs from the start in Ettal by the Graswangtal directly at Linderhof Castle passing back through the Graswangtal aim to Oberammergau. The total number of participants is about 4000 people.

The 39th King Ludwig run in 2011 has such a large media interest drawn on that the run was transferred in classic technique over 50km on Sunday for the first time in television and the Internet live.

The 42 King -Ludwig- run in 2014 was first broadcast by the sports channel Euro Sport the following Monday in full length, so the run was sent nationwide in Germany on TV.

The 43 King -Ludwig- run will take place on 31 January and 1 February 2015.
