Králova Lhota (Písek District)

Králova Lhota ( German Königslhota ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 21 km north of Pisek and belongs to Okres Pisek.

Geography

Králova Lhota is located in the Central Bohemian hills between the valleys of the Vltava River and Skalice. North-east rises the Krahulik (520 m).

Neighboring towns are serkov in the north, and Kožlí Orlik nad Vltavou in the northeast, and Višňovka Probulov in the east, in the southeast Nevězice, Lažiště in the south, Čimelice, Nový Dvůr and Krsice the southwest, Nerestce in the west and Lety in the northwest.

History

In the 13th century, the clearing and settlement of the forests between Moldova and Skalice was. The village was one of the numerous established after Lhotensystem villages whose settlers were exempt for a certain period of royalties and services to the authorities. These villages have been designated by the name Lehota, which later became Lhota. The first mention of Lehota dates from 1361. Lhota was the royal bailiff in Lety and was assumed to distinguish it from other place situated near Lhota as Králova Lhota called.

1421 King Sigismund separated Králova Lhota rid of the royal estates and overwrote the place to Matěj Brus of Kovářov. Subsequent owners of the village were from 1437 Bušek Sekerka of Sedčice, from 1461 Jindřich Sádlo of Kladrubec and from 1471 Smil Hodějovský of Hodějov.

After the abolition of patrimonial belonged Králova Lhota 1850-1880 for community Orlik and was then independently. 1910, the village had 411 inhabitants, in 1921 there were 385 During the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was the Krahulik north of the village the Lety concentration camp for Sinti and Roma. 1961 Lažiště was incorporated.
