Kupino, Novosibirsk Oblast
Kupino (Russian Купино ) is a town in Novosibirsk Oblast (Russia) with 14,893 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the southeastern part of the West Siberian Plain, about 580 km west-southwest of Oblasthauptstadt Novosibirsk south of Tschanysees near the Kazakh border. The climate is continental.
The city is the administrative center of the Kupino Rajons same name. The nearest town Karassuk 85 km southeast of Kupino.
History
Kupino was created in 1886 as a village, probably from the surname ( Kupin ) was given its name by the then local owner. The town charter was granted in 1944.
