Kupreanof Island

The Kupreanof Island (English " Kupreanof Iceland ") is an island belonging to the group of the Alexander Archipelago island in the U.S. state of Alaska.

The Kupreanof Island is 84 km long and 32 km wide. The Lindenberg Peninsula (English " Lindenberg Peninsula " ), which follows on the southeastern end of the island, but by a narrow strip of water that is separated Duncan Canal, is regarded as belonging to the island. The land area of ​​the Kupreanof Island is 2803 km ². In the 2000 census, a population of 785 was found.

On the island there are two settlements. The larger of the two settlements is Kake in the northwest of the island. The other is Kupreanof; it lies on the eastern side of the island opposite the present on the nearby Mitkof Island town of Petersburg.
