Kuželov

Kuželov [ kuʒɛlɔv ] ( German Kuschelau, formerly Kuzelau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers south-east of Veseli nad Moravou and belongs to Okres Hodonín.

Geography

Kuželov extends in the western part of the White Carpathian Mountains on the edge of the nature reserve PLA White Carpathians in the valley of the brook Kuželovský creek. Two and a half kilometers to the south is the border with Slovakia. South of the village rises the Teplica. To the north, the Hájova rise (354 m) and Dlouha hora (375 m), in the northeast of the Haj (573 m ) east of the LEST (418 m), southeast the Bojiste ( 438 m), in the south of Stráň (550 m), southwest of the Kobyla ( 583 m), in the west the Čertoryje ( 442 m) and northwest of the Výzkum ( 439 m) and Vrchy (340 m).

Neighboring towns are Louka in the north, Velka in the northeast, Javorník in the east, Vrbovce in the south, the west and Radejov Tvarožná Lhota, Kněždub, Malá Vrbka and Hrubá Vrbka in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village took place in 1406. Beginning of the 16th century acquired Jan Kunovice of the village and opened it to his new dominion Ostroh. In the vicinity of Kuželov existed until the 17th century, vineyards. Until the mid- 19th century, the village remained subservient always Ostroh.

After the replacement of patrimonial Kuželová / Kuzelau formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Göding and the jurisdiction Strážnice. At the end of the 19th century the village was known as Kuzelov and Kůželové, since the beginning of the 20th century, the present-day city name prevails. Between 1949 and 1960 the village belonged to Veseli nad Moravou Okres and came to the resolution back to Okres Hodonín. On Bojiste was created in 1990 a wind turbine. After the division of Czechoslovakia in 1993 Kuželov the frontier town of Slovakia. Located on the southeastern land of Kuželov Vrbovce station on the railway line Nové Mesto nad Váhom - Veseli nad Moravou was the border station. In the course of a boundary adjustment in 1997 the railway station and the surrounding parcels to Slovakia were assigned and allocated to the cadastre of Vrbovce.

In July, the annual Folklore Festival of Horňácko region takes place.

Attractions

  • The most important, most visible monument is the Old Mill ( Stary Mlyn ) or windmill in Kuželov ( Větrný Mlýn Kuželově v ) on a hill south-east before entering the town. In 1842, The Dutch windmill has a conical stone, about seven meters high tower mill from Feldstein, three floors and a rotatable wooden shingle roof. 1904 bought Johann (Jan ) Kašík the mill. In 1906 the residential building was built next to the mill, later barn and stables. Until 1918, she was grinding grain, most recently was only broken. After renewed use by Johann Kasiks son Friedrich ( Bedřich Kašík ) it was completely closed in 1946. Since then, the mill decline began. The last miller died 1971. 1963 came the mill historical monument, 1964, the wing cross was repaired. 1973-77 was carried out by the Technical Museum in Brno ( Technické Muzeum v Brně ) a total restoration with intact mill, the mill was opened to the public. Appeared in 2001, the old windmill on a Czech stamp.
