Labuty

Labuty ( German Labud ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers north of Kyjov and belongs to Okres Hodonín.

Geography

Labuty is located in the hill country Kyjovská pahorkatina. The village lies in the valley of the brook Skalecký creek at the mouth of the creek and Josefínský Labutský creek. To the north rise the Bradlo ( 543 m) and the Holý Kopec ( 458 m ) in the north- east, the Hačky ( 346 m ) east of the Záhumenice ( 388 m) and in the northwest of Paní háj (410 m).

Neighboring towns are Podhoří and Vřesovice in the north, Osvetimany in the northeast, Hruškovice, Medlovice and Hostějov in the east, Syrovín and Žeravice the southeast, Ježov and Skalka in the south, Dolni Moštěnice the southwest, Moravany and Čeložnice in the west and Josefinský Dvůr and Zavadilka in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was made in 1368 in connection with the Vladiken Mikuláš and Boček of Labuť. Boček left in 1374, the village of Ulrich von Boskowitz. He acquired in 1380 nor the two Huben of Zbinek of Labuť. 1390 sold Wanek of Boskowitz Labuť to Heinrich von Zástřizl. Labud consisted in 1834 of 61 houses and 284 inhabitants had. Parish and school location was Ježov. The inhabitants lived by vineyards and orchards. Until the mid-19th century Labuť remained subservient always lower Moschtienitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Labuť / Labud formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Gaya. Below the village wore the official name Labutě and labud. Since the late 19th century, the production of animals for slaughter took a sharp upturn. 1901, the school building was inaugurated. Today's local name Labuty was introduced in 1923. After the abolition of Okres Kyjov Labuty in 1960 associated with the Okres Hodonín.
