Latin Patriarch of Constantinople

The Latin Patriarchate of Constantinople Opel originated in 1204 as a result of the conquest of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusade Opel. French crusaders, supported by the Republic of Venice, established the Latin Empire and drove the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople Opel. After the reconquest of the city in 1261 by Michael VIII Palaeologus and the end of the Latin Empire, the Patriarch took seat on Negroponte and officiated mostly in personal union as Archbishops of Crete. In the wake of the Union of Florence Crusader patriarchy was legally united with the Greek Patriarchate under Gregory Melissenus whose unierter with Rome branch, however, was occupied from Pietro Riario regularly with Latin prelates to the claim of the Roman Catholic Church on these traditional patriarchal seat of the East to maintain. The Latin Patriarch of Constantinople Opel assigned Patriarchal Basilica is St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. Since 1948, this Latin Titularpatriarchat was no longer occupied. The Patriarchate, together with those of other Latin Patriarchate, with the exception of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in 1964 during the Second Vatican Council and on the basis of between Pope Paul VI. and the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople Opel Athinagoras taken agreement resolved.
