Laurent Aïello

Laurent Aiello (* May 23, 1969 in Fontenay -aux -Roses ) is a former French auto racing driver.

Career

Aiello was known as a master of various touring car championships in France in 1994, Germany in 1997 and the UK in 1999 and the victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998. During the years 2000 to 2003 he drove in the DTM for the Team Abt Sportsline with the initially hopeless inferior Abt Audi TT -R. After a moderate 2000 he drove in 2001 the first victory for his team. In 2002, he won the title in this series prior record champion Bernd Schneider. In 2003 he won one race at the Nürburgring, and gave to the end of the season known his move to Opel. He was looking for a new challenge and regretted that he had not left the Team Abt Sportsline, according to its title in 2002. From 2004, he raced in the DTM for the Opel Team Phoenix Racing.

After two rather disappointing years (2004/2005), which was more to his vehicle ( Opel Vectra GTS) and less his knowledge he gave on 17 September 2005 as part of the DTM race at the Euro Speedway Lausitz its final withdrawal from motorsport end of the season 2005.
