Lauttasaari ( swedish Drumsö ) is an island located in Helsinki with an area of 3.75 km ², about three kilometers west of the city center. In the official City arrangement, it represents a separate district ( kaupunginosa ), divided into subregions ( osa - alue ) Kotkavuori, Vattuniemi, Myllykallio and Koivusaari.

Lauttasaari is mainly residential with 19,000 inhabitants. Despite its proximity to the town center there are Lauttasaari some woods and protruding rocks.

About the island Länsiväylä the highway that connects Helsinki Espoo runs.

Until the construction of the connecting bridge of Helsinki 1935 Lauttasaari was a recreational area. From then on began a building boom that is still not closed. Currently, the Metro Helsinki to Lauttasaari and continued to be built to Espoo.
