Geography

Le Mémont is located on 998 m, 13 km north-northeast of Morteau and approximately 13 km west-northwest of the town of La Chaux -de-Fonds (air line). The village is located in the Jura, at the edge of the small pelvis of Mémont on the same ridge, which rises in the southwest of the plateaus of Maîche.

The area of 3.16 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by the broad ridge of Le Mémont. This ridge forms in geological- tectonic respects an anticlinal folds of the Jura and is oriented southwest-northeast direction according to the strike of the mountains in this region. Because of the erosion was cleared the top hard layer of rock over time, which is why a basin formed on the ridge, which is surrounded on all sides by 20 to 50 m high, partly rocky ridges. The western boundary runs along the ridge of the Mont Repentir (1050 m), the southern to that of Les Murs. Here it is with 1056 m the highest elevation reached by Le Mémont. While the basin is mainly consisted of pasture, the ridges are forested. The area has no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

Neighboring communities of Le Le Luhier Mémont are in the north, Le Russey in the east and Le Bizot in the south.
