Legde/Quitzöbel

The community Legde / Quitzöbel located in Prignitz in Brandenburg.

It was created on 31 March 2002 from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Legde and Quitzöbel. Inhabited parts of municipalities are Legde, Lenne joke Quitzöbel and Roddan.

Legde

Legde is a small village in the Prignitz with about 250 inhabitants. Worth seeing are the church and the Quitzow Memorial. The first historical mention was in 1274, where Legde is mentioned in relation to a border dispute between Legde and Roddan. Under the Quitzow Memorial Furthermore, said to have been buried by the Lord of Quitzow the horse. During World War II, the population Legdes were actively opposed to an income on the part of the Russians. They set up tank traps, but what they had to reduce arbitrarily again, because the Russian commander would otherwise arranged, down down the houses of the villagers with their tanks.

Lenne joke

Lenne joke is a small village with about 35 inhabitants ( 2006). The first written record dates from 1310 as Leneuiz. The name is derived from the Slavic and personal names Len, which means lazy. Worth seeing is the church, which was built in 1909 as the Art Nouveau building. The plans came to by the Berlin architect Georg Büttner, the ornaments from art painting company Otto Linnemann from Frankfurt am Main.

Quitzöbel

Quitzöbel was the seat of the noble family of Brandenburg Quitzow. The first written record dates from 1310 as Quitzhovel. The Middle Low German name means Quitzows hill. In the 17th century it passed into the possession of the von Bülow. Later, the families of Gansauge and then von Jagow owner of the settlement were. Today Quitzöbel has 310 inhabitants ( 2006). Worth seeing is the brick church, which was built in the early 16th century.

On February 1, 1974 Quitzöbel was incorporated into Legde. On 1 May 1990, the city again became an independent municipality.
