Leisu a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community is Emmaste ( Emmaste vald ). It is the second largest Estonian island of Hiiumaa ( German Dagö ).

Description

Leisu ( German Leiso ) has 16 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). The place was first mentioned in 1564 as Einfüßlerstelle documented.

Schoolhouse

The school of Leisu was one of the largest primary schools in the island before the Second World War. With the Soviet occupation of Estonia Hiiumaa was declared a prohibited area. More and more Estonians left the island, so that the building looks oversized today. Later in the classrooms next school and library also attracted a small museum. The house is a listed building.
