Less Than Jake

Less Than Jake is a ska punk band from Gainesville, Florida, was founded in 1992 by Vinnie Fiorello, Chris Demakes and Roger Manganelli. The unusual name comes from the 80 -pound bulldog who had Fiorello's parents. The dog was the parents so important that anything "less than Jake" (English: / less important than Jake ) was. Trombonist Buddy Schaub played a long time in the band Goldfinger, and the former bassist Shaun Grief now works as a roadie.

Band History

The candy PEZ and the associated figures sake, their first proper album was released in 1995 Pezcore under the label Asian Man Records. After the success of the album they were taken from Capitol Records. The albums Losing Streak and Hello Rockview among fans and critics, according to the best ska -punk albums. Since the band but felt badly treated, she moved to Fat Mike's independent label Fat Wreck Chords. Borders & Boundaries was released in 2000 and was a resounding success.

After only one plate at Fat Wreck they changed with Sire Records back to a Major, where 2003 Anthem released and three years later, In With The Out Crowd. In this panel, they experimented a bit with their sound, but this was not really accepted by most fans. Mark Hoppus of the band Blink 182, Less Than Jake wrote for the song " The Rest of My Life ".

In April 2006, Less Than Jake came together with the Dropkick Murphys in various places in Europe such as Berlin, Hamburg, Bielefeld, Cologne, Saarbrücken (without Dropkick Murphys ), Munich, Meerhout ( Groezrock ) and Vienna.

In summer 2007, the band played various festivals such as the Greenfield Festival in Interlaken, the Mach1 Festival in Montabaur and the Southside Festival in Neuhausen ob Eck. Subsequently, she got to her new album GNV FLA ( a reference to their hometown of Gainesville, Florida), which appeared in June 2008 on the band's label eignenen Sleep it Off Records. Musically they returned so again more to their roots. They also met in 2008 on the Area4, the Highfield and as the opening act at the " Jäzzfest " of doctors overseas.
