There she met producer Clif Magness, with whom she could finish the album Let Go according to their wishes. She was supported by producer collective " The Matrix", who had already written songs for Sheena Easton and Christina Aguilera. Lavigne taught all the songs a personal experience, such as about problems with their parents, the school and her first love.

To promote her debut album, Lavigne launched in January 2003 her first world tour with the name Try to Shut Me Up Tour. The setlist consisted addition to the songs on the album of cover versions of other well -known songs, such as Knockin 'on Heaven 's Door by Bob Dylan and the band Green Day Basket Case. During the tour, the My World DVD was created. The tour ended in June 2003 after 57 played concerts.
