Lister Storm

The Lister Storm was a homologated racing car GT manufacturer Lister Cars of the United Kingdom.

Development and Technology

Its development began in 1993. The Storm took advantage of the then ³ 6996 cm largest V12 engine, which was built after the Second World War in a production vehicle. It was a modification of the Jaguar machine that had already come in the Jaguar XJR - sports car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for use. Due to the relatively high price of U.S. $ 350,000 approximately only four copies were produced before production of the road version as well. Today there are three of them, but Lister holds at least the racing versions continue repaired.

The drilled zweiventilige Lister V12 delivered a power output of 407 kW and a torque of 790 Nm. With front-engine, rear-wheel drive, the vehicle weighed 1664 kg and accelerated from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.1 seconds. Storm GTS

The Lister Storm GTS debuted at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GT1 class as a competitor to cars like the McLaren F1, the Ferrari F40, the Jaguar XJ220 and the Porsche 911 GT2. The first performance of the car, driven by Geoff Lees, Rupert Keegan and Dominic Chapell was not particularly successful, because he fell due to circuit problems from after just 40 laps.

In 1996, the team, the Storm before Le Mans decided to treat yourself to a test run and he took part in the 24 Hours of Daytona. It succeeded the individual Storm not here to finish the race. Despite this setback, the team ventured to the Storm GTS the foray to Le Mans. The car was at least able to improve over the disappointing start, because you reached the goal, after all. However, only on a severed 19th Place all 59 laps behind the winner. After Le Mans, Lister Storm GTS decided to leave to start in the BRP Global GT Series, in which he had his debut at the Nürburgring in the fifth race. However, the Storm GTS reached the goal in any more races this season.

Storm GTL

For the 1997 season, so Lister became clear, would be the Storm GTS 911 GT1 been much too slow compared to the new competitors in the GT-1 class like the Mercedes- Benz CLK GTR or Porsche. He was therefore redesigned and you gave him a longer and more aerodynamic front end. This new version has now been referred to as Storm GTL. It was first used during the 24 Hours of Daytona, where he rose to a 19th place overall, and was in his own class fourth. In the same year two more Storm GTL yet been set up for Le Mans, but neither of them came out on the 77th lap. Also this year, a Storm GTL was spent in the United States to participate in the final two rounds of the FIA GT Championship at Sebring and Laguna Seca. Also this car could finish neither of the two races.

Launched in 1998 to a new trial in Daytona, but again meant early problems a premature end. Because of these difficulties the team managed not in the starting field from Le Mans to come and also joined other this year at any other races more. Instead, they focused on the transformation of the Storm.

Storm GT

1999 emerged the Storm again. He had exchanged the aerodynamic body parts of the GTL favor of a more standard front end. The team announced to want to participate in the entire FIA GT Championship season under the new rules of the GT2 class. After a rather poor start to the season they reached fourth place at the Hockenheimring almost two laps behind the winning pair of Chrysler Viper GTS -R. There was a third place in Zolder and finally a second place at Donington, where Lister was only just under 26 seconds behind the winning Viper. This success resulted in a Lister a shared fifth place in the overall standings of the teams at end of season.

With the coming of 2000, it was at Lister much more optimistic regarding their own ways. Chrysler ORECA had officially adopted by the championship, so the last work team as a competitor left the series. There remained only private teams left as a challenger. Thus, the Lister team won the first race of the season in Valencia. It was followed by four more wins during the season, all of Julian Bailey and Jamie Campbell -Walter were retracted. With these victories Lister succeeded the overall victory in the team standings. At the same time Lister competed in the British GT Championship both as a factory team, as well as a customer's vehicle for Cirtek Motorsport. Both teams reached a total of nine victories.

After being returned as the winner of the FIA GT, Lister began the 2001 season with two works cars continued. Although four wins were retracted, the team was beaten in the team standings Larbre Competition and Cars Port Netherlands. A similar situation arose in 2002 as the Lister team achieved three wins and second in the overall standings, was in turn defeated by Larbre.

2003 came another vehicle of the Customer Creation Autosportif to Lister FIA GT team. The factory team only managed a single win, finished the season but on a second place in the overall standings. Creation was not far behind in fourth place after a customer car was added. At the same time Lister began work on a new project, the Storm LMP, which was to bring the brand back to Le Mans and thus reduced its commitment as a factory team in the FIA GT.

During the 2004 season Creation Autosportif took over the lead role for the series, while the work took only season at selected races. Creation reached only an eighth place in the overall standings after the team also decided to start with a Le Mans prototype. The factory team, however, could only enter one point. Lister began in 2005 another attempt, but you just reached enough points for a place as the tenth best team. After this season, the GT was officially retired and the manufacturer is now focused on the Storm LMP. In the game GTR2 there are 2003 Creation and Lister Racing and 2004 only Creation.

2006 bought the French squadron Red Racing a Storm FFSA GT Championship for. Despite several failures Iradj Alexander and Gaël Lesoudier finished the race in Pau as the winner.
