Loiret

The Loiret [ lwaʀe ] is a French department of atomic number 45 It is in the center of the country in the Centre region and is named after the river Loiret.

Geography

The Loiret is bordered to the north by the department of Essonne, in the north- east by the department of Seine -et- Marne, on the east by the department of Yonne, in the south of the department of Nièvre and Cher, on the southwest by the department of Loir -et -Cher and the north-west by the department of Eure- et- Loir.

The most important river is the river Loire, which reached the department from the southeast, the capital of west lying in the department of Orléans flows through the department and then leaves in a southwesterly direction. The north-east of the department drained the Loing towards the north. To the east is the running from north to south of the Canal du Loing chain channel, Canal de Briare and Canal in the Loire that connect the river system of the Seine with the Rhone. The eponymous Loiret is a mere 12 km long left tributary of the Loire in the agglomeration of Orléans.
