Loisin

Loisin is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region. Loisin in the wine region of Savoie. White wines from the grape variety Chasselas ( locally called Chasselas ) may be marketed under the protected designation of origin Crépy.

Geography

Loisin is located on 467 m above sea level. Level, 16 km northeast of the city of Geneva ( straight line ), close to the border with Switzerland. The municipality stretches along the north-west foot of the Mont de Boisy, at the edge of the plain of the Bas -Chablais south of Lake Geneva.

The area of ​​7.86 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plane of the Bas -Chablais. History

In the field of Loisin some remains and wall foundations were found from the Roman period.

Population

With 1419 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Loisin one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In recent decades, a continuous strong growth of population was recorded. Outside of the old village and the promising slopes at Mont de Boisy arisen extended family house districts.
