Loncopué Department

The department Loncopue lies in the west of the province of Neuquen in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the Departamento Ñorquín, on the northeast by the Departamento Pehuenches, on the east by the department of ANELO, to the south by the Departamento Picunches and to the west by Chile.

The capital of the department Loncopue is the same Loncopue.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population grew from 6,457 inhabitants (2001) to 7,688 inhabitants in 2005.

The department is divided into Loncopue Loncopue, a town of the second category, the Comisión de Fomento Chorriaca and Cuarteles cajón de Almanza, Huarenchenque, Huitrin, Huncal, Muchilinco, Pichaihue and Quintuco.
