London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art
The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art ( LAMDA ) claims to be one of the leading drama schools in the English-speaking world.
General
The school was established in 1883 from a merger of several institutions, whose history goes back partly to the year 1861; this makes the LAMDA to the oldest of its kind in the UK. Its present form was created in the early 20th century, when the style of theater - and thus the demands on the actor's training - fundamentally changed.
Meanwhile, the LAMDA offers not only to acting classes, but also other trainings around the world of theater, such as Lighting design.
