Luis Antonio Tagle

Luis Antonio Tagle Gokim Cardinal ( born June 21, 1957 in Manila, Philippines) is Archbishop of Manila.

Life

Luis Antonio Tagle attended the Saint Andrew School in Parañaque. He then studied philosophy at San Jose Seminary in Manila and Catholic theology at the Ateneo de Manila University. On February 27, 1982 Tagle received by the Bishop of Imus, Felix Paz Perez, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He was incardinated into the clergy of the Archdiocese of Manila.

From 1982 to 1983, Luis Antonio Tagle curate in the parish of St. Augustine and spiritual director of the seminary in Imus. Subsequently, he was rector of the seminary of Imus. From 1987 to 1991 Tagle completed doctoral studies at the Catholic University of America. In 1991 he was graduated summa cum laude doctorate in theology. At the Institut Paul VI. Luis Antonio Tagle took some courses. From 1993 to 1995 he was Vicar for Religious. 1998 Tagle pastor of the Cathedral of Our Lady of The Pillar in Imus. In addition, he became a member of the College of Consultors, the Priests' Council and the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith. On 22 October 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Imus. He received his episcopal consecration on 12 December 2001, the Archbishop of Manila, Jaime Lachica Cardinal Sin; Co-consecrators were Bishop Emeritus of Imus, Manuel Sobreviñas, and the Vicar Apostolic of Palawan, Pedro Arigo. Tagle to chose the motto Dominus Est! ( " It is the Lord !"), Of the Gospel according to John (Jn 21.7 EU) stems.

On October 13, 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Archbishop of Manila and thus to the Primate of the Philippines. The inauguration took place on 12 December of the same year. On October 24, 2012 Benedict XVI gave. known that he wanted to create him on 24 November 2012 for the Cardinal. In the consistory of November 24 of the same year he took him a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Felice da Cantalice a Cento Celle on the College of Cardinals.

In the Philippine Bishops' Conference Luis Antonio Tagle is a member of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Tagle took part in the conclave of 2013. He was age 55 the second youngest participants after Cardinal Isaac Cleemis Thottunkal (53).

Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem

Luis Antonio Tagle was taken on September 2, 2010 as the Bishop of Imus in the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem. He is since 2011 the Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy for the Philippines and was in 2012 he was appointed Knight Grand Cross by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick O'Brien.
