Luis Días (composer)

Luis " Terror" Días ( born June 21, 1952 in Bonao, † December 8, 2009 in Santo Domingo, Luis Díaz actually Portorreal ) was a Dominican rock and jazz musicians.

Díaz had music lessons with Juan Zorrilla and tatan Jiménez and founded his first band at sixteen Los Chonnys. In 1972 he was guitarist of the group Convite, collected the folk music of the Dominican Republic and played and was active in the resistance against the President Joaquín Balaguer. The song composed by Díaz Obrero acepta mi mano became the official theme of Siete Días festival con el Pueblo.

After the dissolution of Convite 1978 Díaz founded the group Madora, which merged the folklore of the West Indies with the Jazz. From 1980 to 1982 he lived in New York, where he held workshops on the Dominican Republic and was influenced by Heavy Metal.

After his return he founded with guitarist Juan Francisco Ordóñez, the group transports Urbano, the first Dominican rock band. Since 1999, he led the band La Victoria. Besides their own albums, he recorded also recordings with Sergio Vargas, Wilfrido Vargas, Sonia Silvestre, Rafael Solano, Alex Bueno, Fernando Villalona, Marc Anthony and others.
