Luis Yáñez

Luis Yáñez ( born December 25, 1988 in Duncanville, Texas ) is an American boxer. He was Master of the Pan-American Amateurs 2007 at flyweight.

Career

Luis Yáñez attended Duncanville High School. He began at the age of 10 years, animated by his athletic father, with the boxes. Luis Yanez is left boom and developed already in the junior age one of the best U.S. amateur boxer. It is very light and starts in the light flyweight ( class up to 48 kg body weight), but must be very disciplined life in order to bring this weight can. Luis Yáñez won the 2005 in Brownsville, the largest U.S. Junior tournament in the light flyweight with a points victory ( 17:7 ) in the final over Joel Navarez from Puerto Rico. He started then for the U.S. Boxing Association at the World Championships for Cadets (up to the age of 17 ) in Liverpool. In light flyweight, he won there over Sonny Upton from Ireland ( 10:8 ), Vasily Batalov, Russia ( 12:10 ) and Sakem Sydyrow from Kazakhstan ( 22:19 ) on points. In the final, however he lost the Englishman Khalid Saeed Yafai and thus became Junior Vice World Champion.

In 2006, Luis Yanez, both the U.S. Championship as the AAU also won at the National Golden Gloves in the light flyweight. He defeated fight for victory each Roberto Ceron. In the same year he also started a Junior World selection, which took in Krasnoyarsk and Noginsk against a Russian junior selection. He won here in Krasnoyarsk against Galanow on points, but lost in Noginsk against Mikhail Alojan on points. At the Junior World Cup 2006 ( Juniors = up to 18 years ) in Agadir Luis Yanez won a medal again. He won there over Muhammad Nizar from Pakistan by termination in the 2nd round, on batching and John Joe Nevin Alojan from Ireland respectively by points ( 22:8 and 14:12) and was defeated in the semifinals against Alexei Collado Acosta of Cuba by points ( 5:12 ).

In 2007, Luis Yanez again won the U.S. Championship and the National Golden Gloves in the light flyweight. He won it in the final battle against Daniel Lozano ( 19:8 ) and Francisco Ibarra on points. In the U.S. excretion for the Panamerican Championships in Colorado Springs he won the final of the half- fly weight over Roberto Ceron on points ( 13:9 ). In an American qualification tournament for the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires Luis Yanez won first against Jena -Michel kid from Canada to points, but lost in the semifinal against Winston Mendez - Monteiro from the Dominican Republic, but qualified for these games. At the Pan American Games themselves, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Luis Yanez was in excellent shape. He won first over Paulo Carvalho from Brazil to points ( 19:6 ), and celebrated in the next fight a sensational victory over the Cubans Yampier Hernandez, he auspunktete with 11:8 hits. With point wins over Winston Mendez - Monteiro ( 13:9 ) and Kevin Betancourt of Venezuela ( 14:7 ) he then succeeded in winning the title.

With high hopes he competed at the World Championships in Chicago. First, he came to a noncombat victory over Simanga Shiba from South Africa and to a termination victory in the second round on Stephen Sutherland of Australia. But in the quarter-finals he lost surprisingly against Harry Tañamor from the Philippines clearly with 7:17 hits and retired. Together with three other boxers, he finished a disappointing 5th place for him. In autumn 2007, Luis Yanez won at the U.S. Trials for the 2008 Olympic Games in Colorado Springs in the light flyweight fight the decisive battle against Malcolm Franklin and secured the spot at these Olympic Games.

Finally, Luis Yanez started for the U.S. national team, in 2007 even at two countries fighting that took place in Zunyi in China, but in the flyweight (up to 51 kg body weight). In the first fight he lost it against the reigning world champion in the light flyweight, the Chinese Zhou Shiming by task in the 3rd round and also against the Cossacks Olzhas Sattibajew he had to suffer a defeat that was with 14:15 hits, however, very scarce.

The year 2008 did not start successfully for Luis Yanez. Because he was defeated in San Diego as part of a country fighting against the Mexicans Odlion Zaleta by points ( 11:13 ). Victorious, he remained at the last Olympic test of the U.S. national team, in Bridgeport. He won there over Paulo Carvalho from Brazil on points.

Since September 2007, Luix Yanez prepares with his comrades from the U.S. national team training center in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Games 2008.
