Lüterkofen- Ichertswil is a municipality in the district of Bucheggberg the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. The municipality was created in 1960 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Lüterkofen and Ichertswil.

Geography

The double municipality Lüterkofen- Ichertswil lies 6 km south-southwest of Canton main town of Solothurn (air line). Both villages, Lüterkofen ( 473 m above sea level. M. ) and Ichertswil ( 483 m above sea level. M. ) extending in the valley of Beaver brook in the eastern part of Bucheggberg, in the Solothurn Plateau.

The area of ​​4.4 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molassehöhen of Bucheggberg. The area is crossed from west to east by Beaver Brook in a wide valley. The Biberental widens west of Ichertswil after a narrow valley at a up to 500 m wide flat valley floor, which merges below Lüterkofen in a flood plain. To the south of the municipality Biberentals enough spell on the wooded ridge of the upper timber (up to 555 m above sea level. M. ), which separates the valley from the Mühletal. Population

With 723 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Lüterkofen- Ichertswil one of the smaller municipalities in the canton of Solothurn. Of the residents 97.7 % are German, 0.8 % French-speaking and 0.3 % speak Dutch ( as of 2000). The population of Lüterkofen- Ichertswil amounted in 1850 to 438 residents in 1900 to 492 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population fluctuated in the range of 440-520 people. Only since 1970 (528 inhabitants), a continuous population growth was recorded.

Economy

Lüterkofen- Ichertswil was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. In Lüterkofen- Ichertswil among builders, horticulture, timber construction, a furniture shop, a wine shop are represented. Above Ichertswil a gravel pit is exploited. In recent decades, the village has developed through the construction of new neighborhoods on the southern slope of the promising Banzenrains into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions of Solothurn and Grenchen.

Traffic

The community is conveniently comparatively quite well developed. It lies on the road from Biberist after Schnottwil. History

The first documentary mention of the place Ichertswil was in 1148 under the name Hisenharceswilare. Later, the names Ysnatzwile ( 1399 ) and Jsserzwil published ( 1540). The place name comes from the personal name Isanhart and means in the courts of the Isanhart. The first mention of Lüterkofen dated as of the 1315 Lüterkon. From a later time, the spellings Lütrikon ( 1344), Luterkoven (1368 ) and Lu (i ) terkofen ( 1382 ) survived. This village name is derived from the Old High German personal name Liutheri. The suffix - kofen he means so much as in the courts of the people of Liutheri, where so-called relocated farms are meant.

Since the Middle Ages were under the rule of the two villages Buchegg, which was part of the County of Burgundy country, acquired in 1391 from Solothurn and was converted to the Bailiwick Bucheggberg. Until 1798, the high court was the Bernese district court Zollikofen while Solothurn with the Lüsslingen of court exercised the lower courts. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) Lüterkofen and Ichertswil belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district Biberist and from 1803 to the District Bucheggberg. In 1960 the two previously independent municipalities Lüterkofen and Ichertswil merged to form new political community Lüterkofen- Ichertswil.

Lüterkofen- Ichertswil belongs to the parish Lüsslingen, but has, on the western outskirts of Lüterkofen own church.
