The rural community Mäetaguse ( Mäetaguse vald ) is located in Ida- Viru county in northeastern Estonia.

Description

The rural municipality covers an area of ​​285.04 km ². It has 1519 inhabitants ( 2010). The population density is 6 people per square kilometer.

The landscape in the center of the district of Ida -Viru is characterized by numerous pristine forests, marshes, lakes and rivers.

Good Mäetaguse

Particularly worth seeing is the 1542 first mentioned manor of Mäetaguse ( German Mehntack ). The present main building was built in 1796 by the German Baltic Eugenius Octave of roses. It was rebuilt in 1890 in the classical style and equipped with rich interior.
