Malá Ida

Malá Ida (Hungarian Kisida ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1434 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The community is located just west of the city of Košice. The 10 km ² large municipality covers a valley portion of Ida. The eponymous river occurs a few kilometers south of Malá Ida from the south-eastern foothills of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the flat terrain of the valley Košická kotlina. East of the Ida community area is on a length of six kilometers of dense deciduous forests. The center is located at an altitude of 292 m nm, the highest point in the municipality form the elevations Stavenčik in the Southeast with 341 m and Kodydóm in the south west (362 m above sea level).

Neighboring municipalities of Malá Ida Bukovec are in the north, Velka Ida in the north, Baska in the northeast, Košice (neighborhoods Lorinčík and polov ) in the east, Košice - Šaca in the south and semsa in the West.

The counterpart to Malá Ida - the community Velka Ida (Great - Ida ) - located downriver about eight kilometers.

History

In 1280 the village was first mentioned in writing as a field Ida. In 1300 is mentioned in a document of lands called Omodeus dictus Fejes de Ida. The operation of a water mill is attested for the year 1324. 1910 lived in Kisida 437 majority Slovak speaking people, with a Hungarian-speaking minority. By the Treaty of Trianon, the village to the county Abaúj- Torna in the Kingdom of Hungary was, from then on belonged Malá Ida / Kisida like all lying in the county Abaúj- Torna places to Czechoslovakia. After the First Vienna Award these communities were once again from 1938 to 1945 in Hungary.

In 1406 Malá Ida came together with the nearby Šebastovce to the Zipser chapter.

Population

According to the results of the 2001 census lived in Malá Ida 1,035 inhabitants, of which

  • 97.97 % Slovaks,
  • 0.77 % Roma.

88.9 % of residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church ..

Attractions

  • The Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation ( Rímskokatolícky kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie ) is in the town center. At the same location is already occupied in records for 1347 a stone church without a tower.

Economy and infrastructure

In addition to agriculture, forestry, tourism ( hotel and catering ) is playing an increasingly important role in Malá Ida. There is in place a food establishment making pasta.

The inhabitants work in industry, retail or tourism area or commute to the nearby city of Košice. For several years Malá Ida is a preferred home location for the inhabitants of Košice, looking calm and still do not want to miss the advantages of the big city. Also contribute to the good on public transport.

Through the municipal area, the main road runs from Kosice to Jasov ( Highway 548). This is in Malá Ida crossed by the road from Bukovec after Šaca.
