Marc-André Dalbavie

Marc -Andre Dalbavie ( born February 10, 1961 in Neuilly -sur -Seine ) is a French composer.

Life

Marc -André Dalbavie studied composition in Paris with Michel Philippot, musical analysis with Betsy Jolas and Claude Ballif, electroacoustics at Guy Reibel, orchestration Marius Constant, musical computer science with Tristan Murail and conducting with Pierre Boulez. In the years between 1985 and 1990, he worked primarily at IRCAM. This was followed by 1991-1992 a DAAD scholarship in Berlin and in the years 1995 and 1996, a stay at the Villa Medici in Rome. Since 1996 he is Professor of Instrumentation teaching at the Conservatoire de Paris.

Dalbavie considered as representative of the école de musique spectrale that deals with spectral music.
