Marcel Aubour ( born June 17, 1940 in Saint- Tropez ) is a former French footballer.

Club career

Aubour denied in August 1960 his first game in Division 1, where he was defeated 0-2 with his club Olympique Lyon in the champions Stade Reims. But to a regular player he was until the 1962 season / 63. The 1,80 m tall, physically strong and factual goalkeeper distinguished himself by good penalty area and dominance at high flanks, also by his wide and accurate bombing from. Whether its always cheerful manner and the ability to entrain teammates, he was also a stabilizing factor within its teams. In a team with some national players such as Jean Djorkaeff, Nestor Combin, Fleury Di Nallo, Victor Nurenberg and Stéphane Bruey Aubour played in the four years to 1966, mostly in the upper third of the table; truly successful Lyon was only in the French Cup: in season 1962/63 it reached the final, in which it claimed a 0-0 aet in the repeating section 0:2 lost to AS Monaco. A year later, however, this time in a finale of two very strong defensive team with a 2-0 win against Girondins Bordeaux, the goalkeeper won his first title. In the same season he also met with Olympique Lyon in the European Cup Winners' Cup after beating B 1913 Odense, Olympiakos Piraeus and Hamburger SV to the semifinals before, where he earned a reputation as a " penalty -killer ." There the later Cupgewinner Sporting Lisbon ended after a total of three games further title hopes. This autumn, Marcel Aubour became a national player ( see below).

In 1966 he left Lyon and henceforth guarded the gate of OGC Nice. With the South of France, he reached, including on the side of Charly Loubet and Bruno Rodzik, as runner-up in 1968, the best league finish of his career and played three seasons in succession in MesseCup, the forerunner of the UEFA Cup; However, the OGC failed it every time in the first round ( in 1968/69 against Hansa Rostock). In the summer of 1969 the club also rose as table 18th in the second division from. After the first round 1969/70 for financial reasons of OGCN placed in front of the door, he accepted an offer from the coach of Stade Rennes, Jean Prouff, with the words "If it's necessary, I 'll even walk " on. The team from Brittany played in Division 1 while there Aubours years, only the role of a "gray mouse " - but in the National Cup semi-finals joined Rennes in 1970 and a year later to the final before. That the Elf 1971 qualified for the finals, she owed largely to their keeper: in the semi-final against Olympique Marseille he fought in the required penalty kicks three penalties taken from, including the Josip Skoblar; and in the final against Olympique Lyon he kept clean sheets, so that a hit by André Guy sufficient to help Aubour for his second success in this competition. In this encounter he was thrown from Lyon supporters with artichokes - what he, who had over the years into a " personality, always up for a good joke ," developed on the occasion took to the fruits behind the goal boule play when the ball was in the attacking half.

1972 moved Marcel Aubour to Stade Reims, with which it despite very prolific striker ( Delio Onnis, Georges Lech and Carlos Bianchi ) also was not enough for a championship - a fifth place in the Final Table 1975/76 was the best placement in these years - but he again stood in the Cup semi-finals in 1974. When the Red -Whites moved in 1977 even in the final of this competition and lost it against AS Saint- Étienne with 1:2, the nearly 37 -year-old just sat on the bench at the Parc des Princes: his last league game for Reims he had already denied in September 1976 ( 2:4 at AS Nancy), which replaced him, the coaching team Flamion / D' Arménia by the second goalkeeper Christian Laudu. Then finished Aubour after a total of 482 point games - which he failed narrowly to its inclusion in the " 500 Club " - his career.
