Marian Zieliński

Marian Zielinski ( born December 24, 1929 in Chelm, † October 13, 2005 in Warsaw) was a Polish weightlifter.

Career

Marian Zielinski attended a secondary school in Warsaw and came after the army. There he began in 1950 at the age of 21 years already with the weight lifting. It was relatively easy and only started in the featherweight ( up to 60 kg body weight) and later grew up in the lightweight ( to 67.5 kg of body weight) into it. Through good performance in regional competitions he fell on the Polish national team coach Clement Roguski. He oversaw Zielinski in the next few years the club has been delegated to the WCS Legia Warsaw. Besides Roguski but also had the trainer August Dziedzic, Josef Stychynski and Karol Czarkowski great merit in the development Zieliński. He was twice world champion, three times European Champion and won three Olympic medals. Outstanding were his duels with his Polish compatriot Waldemar Baszanowski. The captain in the Polish army, which was active until his 39th year of life, was married to Jadwiga Nientarowicz and had two sons and a daughter.
