Marianne Kaufmann-Abderhalden

Marianne Kaufmann- Abderhalden ( born April 1, 1986 in Grabs ) is a Swiss ski racer. She is the younger sister of Jörg Abderhalden, the most successful athletes in the Swiss national sport swing, and specializes in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G.

Biography

As of December 2001 denied Abderhalden FIS races, two years later the first missions followed in the European Cup. With the Swiss Championship in the combination and the Swiss Junior Champion title in the downhill she became known in 2005 for the first time to a wider public. Followed in 2006 by the Junior Champion title in the Downhill and Super -G.

At the Junior World Cup 2006 Abderhalden won the gold medal in the downhill and a silver medal in the combination. She could therefore participate in the World Cup finals in Åre, but where they went to the last place in mid-March. The Swiss Sports Aid Foundation chose to junior athlete of the year 2006.

In the season 2006/ 07 Abderhalden could not confirm these benefits for the time being, as she suffered from a partial tear of the Achilles tendon. She could not fully charge and therefore had to restrict the training to their foot. With good results in the European Cup and FIS races, they secured a spot in the World Cup. On March 9, 2008, she was 21, the super-combined in Crans -Montana, and thus won her first World Cup points. As a result, she lost the connection to the world leaders due to numerous minor injuries. Qualification for the 2010 Winter Olympics they clearly failed. All the more surprising, therefore, was their result on March 6, 2010, when she went into the World Cup downhill in Crans -Montana to third place.

On August 6, 2011 Abderhalden married her boyfriend Pascal Kaufmann. It starts since then under the name Kaufmann- Abderhalden. The 2011/12 season was for them early on to the end. She was injured early December in the departure of Lake Louise, then had to pause for several weeks and finally quit in January because of a cruciate ligament operation, the season final. The following season, 2012/13 Kaufmann- Abderhalden reached third in the second departure of Lake Louise 's second World Cup podium of her career. A year later, she won 2nd place at the same location.

The first World Cup victory celebrated in 2013 in Val d'Isere, again at a downhill race.
