Mario De Clercq
Mario De Clercq ( born March 5, 1966 in Oudenaarde ) is a former Belgian cyclist.
In his active career, he won three races on the road. Far more successful De Clercq was in his specialist discipline Cyclocross. Here he was in 1998, 1999 and 2002 world champion and won four more medals at World Championships. 2001 and 2002, he was Belgian champion and won the 1999 World Cup.
He became a professional in 1991 Buckler team and ended his career in 2004 at Mr.Bookmaker.com - Palmans. De Clercq is now sports director at Team Sunweb per job.
In connection with the doping scandal surrounding Johan Museeuw a house search was also at De Clercq carried out in 2003 and he indicted for possession of growth hormone and EPO preparation Aranesp. In December 2008, a court in Kortrijk found him guilty. He was sentenced to an imprisonment of ten months ' probation and ordered to pay 15,000 euros.
