Bart Wellens

Bart Wellens ( born August 10, 1978 in Herentals ) is a Belgian racing cyclist.

Bart Wellens focuses on the Discipline Cross. He became professional in 2000 at Spaar Select team. His best season was 2003/2004 when he imports a total of 21 victories. As the main sponsor of the team, Spaar Select, in the summer of 2004 has received financial and legal problems, found himself as the new sponsor Fidea and it changed its name to Fidea Cycling Team. His greatest successes are the two world title, which he won in Monopoli and Pontchâteau in 2003 and 2004. In 2006 he was second behind his compatriot and teammate Erwin Vervecken. Wellens is the star of the docu-soap Wellens en Wee on the Flemish channels VT4. He is shown here in his daily life with his parents and his teammates. He currently lives in Vorselaar. His brother Geert is also a cross driver.

Since 2008, he is married with Lentel De Hertog and since 2009 the father of daughter Lily.
