Mark Allen (snooker player)

Mark Allen ( born February 22, 1986 in Antrim ) is a professional snooker from Northern Ireland.

Career

Even as an amateur Allen was very successful and won many titles. In 2004 he was IBSF Amateur World Champion and European Champion and 2005 EBSA EBSA European Under-19 champion, he's since the 2005/ 06 season on the professional snooker main tour. He played there a good debut season and secured with four wins in the qualifying when Malta Cup for the first time to participate in the final round of a major ranking tournament. After surviving Wildcard round he was defeated in the first round Shaun Murphy with 2:5.

In 2007 he qualified for the finals for the first time a World Cup. After his opening victory over Ken Doherty, he was defeated in the second round Matthew Stevens. After just two seasons, he was already among the 32 best in the Snooker world rankings.

In the Northern Ireland Trophy, he moved in 2007 for the first time the semi-finals of a ranking tournament. He scored at the 2008 China Open and the Bahrain Championship, where he reached the quarter - and semi-final more good results.

In the 2009 World Cup, he defeated among others defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan and failed only in the semifinal to John Higgins. In 2009 he won the Main Tour Invitational Tournament Jiangsu Classic with a 6-0 final victory over Ding Junhui. In the 2010 World Cup, he failed in the quarterfinals to Graeme Dott. In the UK Championship 2010, he once again the leap was achieved in the semi-finals of a ranking tournament. The following year, he at the UK Championship in 2011 his first finals succeeded in a ranking tournament, but he was beaten with 8:10 Judd Trump.

In March 2012, Allen finally won his first ranking tournament when he clearly defeated Stephen Lee in the final of the Haikou World Open with 10:1. In October of the same year he won the Antwerp Open his first tournament on the PTC series.

Beginning in March 2013 Allen defended his title at the Haikou World Open. In the final he beat Matthew Stevens with 10:4. In October 2013, he won in the 2013/14 season inaugural Ruhr Open with a 4-1 final against Ding Junhui. A month later, he won in 2013 another PTC tournament with the Kay Suzanne Memorial Cup.

Personal

Mark Allen was associated with the multiple world champion and winners of the women's snooker rankings Reanne Evans. From the relationship, the daughter Lauren came out.
