Northern Ireland Trophy

The Northern Ireland Trophy was a professional snooker tournament. It was the first professional tournament in Northern Ireland and was held at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast instead.

For the first time the tournament was held in 1981 as Northern Ireland Classic in the Ulster Hall in Belfast.

In 2005, the tournament was introduced as Northern Ireland Trophy again and took a year to 2008 in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast instead. As in 1981 the tournament was an invitational tournament in 2005 - so there was no qualification - and was held with 20 participants in the 2005/06 season. From the 2006/07 season it was a world ranking tournament with qualifying rounds. The top 32 in the world rankings then played against 16 qualifiers. In 2008, the tournament was held for the last time.
