Scottish Professional Championship

The Scottish Professional Championship was a snooker tournament to determine the national snooker champion of Scotland.

History

Between 1980 and 1983 there were the first four editions in various locations in Scotland.

From 1985, the competition was financially supported by the World Association WPBSA. In the other leading Snooker Nations (England, Wales, Ireland, Canada, Australia and South Africa) corresponding championships between 1984 /85 and 1988/89 were funded by the World Association (see the See Also section ). Were eligible to participate everywhere only player of the country; there was consequently no points for the Snooker world rankings.

1985, 1986, 1988 and 1989 was the venue for Edinburgh, Glasgow in 1987, however. After 1989, the tournament was not aligned until it came to a re-edition in Clydebank 2011.

1989 John Rea scored a maximum break.
