World Masters

The World Masters (also Mita / Sky World Masters ) was a professional snooker tournament, which was held only once in January 1991. Aligned it was of Barry Hearn at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham

In the invitational tournament total of one million pounds were paid, at the time, the highest prize money in a snooker tournament. The winner in the men received a record total of 200,000 British pounds, the same year the winner of the World Snooker championship received 135,000 pounds.

In addition, there were similar to Grand Slam tournaments in tennis, including the formats ladies, double the men, the women's doubles, mixed doubles and juniors ( U16 ). For another edition, however, they found no sponsors.

In the first round James Wattana from Thailand played the ninth official maximum break of snooker history.
