List of snooker tournaments

This list gives an overview of the tournaments of the snooker main tour since the introduction of the Snooker world rankings in the 1976 / 77th

First are the tournaments listed that are currently found in the calendar of the Main Tour, including follow under "Former Tournaments " those who no longer take place under "Current Tournaments (2013 /14) ". Some tournaments had throughout its history always a different name ( for example, change of sponsor ), all would enumerate beyond the scope of this list. If, however, a basic renaming be done, this is listed Additional information in the section.

Until 1981/82, the global ranking resulted solely from the results of the previous three World Cups. Only then other tournaments were awarded the status of world ranking tournaments. However, twice as many points were awarded as compared to the "normal" tournaments at the World Cup. For some time, the UK Championship and the Grand Prix have a higher perceived value. The now renamed in Haikou World Open Grand Prix this special status was denied again before the season 2010/11.

In the 1992/93 season four so-called minor ranking events were held, which were rated only 0.1 times the usual. The Players Tour Championship (introduced for season 2010/ 11) is a series of tournaments, where there is also less to get points.

Actually should be recorded here all ranking tournaments. Due to lack of resources or the difficult data situation on the early years of the main tour but one or the other invitational tournament may be missing in this list.
