Snooker season 1995/1996

In the snooker season 1995/1996 16 snooker professional tournaments were played.

The season started as in previous years, in Scotland on 19 September 1995. Afterwards it went to Asia. The Dubai Classic had moved to Thailand, so that there were two world ranking tournaments in Bangkok now. With the newly introduced German Open an attempt was made outside the British Isles to establish a second European ranking tournament.

Thus there were now ten tournaments for the calculation of the Snooker world rankings, led for the sixth year in a row by Stephen Hendry. For the fifth time in a row and a total for the sixth time, the Scot also won the world title, which was awarded to the end of the season in the World Cup final on May 5, 1996. In addition to Hendry, who won five of the 16 items of the season, John Higgins was the most successful player of the season with two titles and four other finals. This enabled him to advance at No. 2 in the world rankings for the first time.
